FLORIDA HUMANITIES HOSTS FREE WORKSHOP TO LEARN HOW TO APPLY FOR PROGRAM FUNDING

Cultural nonprofits and public institutions in Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties are invited to attend an informational funding workshop hosted by statewide grantmaker Florida Humanities on Monday, April 17 at 1 p.m. at the Pensacola Museum of Art, located at 407 S Jefferson Street.
For 50 years, Florida Humanities has served as the nonprofit, state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities and distributed more than $20 million to Florida cultural organizations, libraries, colleges and universities, and public media for programming that supports its mission: “to preserve, promote, and share the history, literature, cultures, and personal stories that offer Floridians a better understanding of themselves, their communities, and their state.”
At the free event, Florida Humanities Executive Director Dr. Nashid Madyun will share:
- An overview of Florida Humanities
- The vast array of funding opportunities available, requirements, and upcoming deadlines
- Examples of local organizations whose programs have received Florida Humanities funding
- Tips and tricks of submitting a viable grant application
“Florida Humanities is dedicated to supporting nonprofits that work to preserve Florida’s diverse history and heritage, promote civic engagement and community dialogue, and provide opportunities to reflect on the future of Florida,” Madyun said. “We award significant funding to hundreds of organizations every year, but we recognize there are many more that are unaware of the funding support and resources that we provide. We want to use this community workshop as outreach and education for the nonprofit sector in the Panhandle, and spotlight the impact our funding can have on organizations and their communities.”
